Artist Kako Ueda

The paper work by artist Kako Ueda is stunning. In her artist statement she says, "For the last four years I have created work by cutting paper. The process results in something of a hybrid, and object that is both drawing and sculpture." Her cut-paper pieces reference the world of myths, fairy tales, art and medical history, science, and body politics. The pieces below are made from hand-cut paper...amazing.

Top to bottom: Portrait Series 1, Tree of Life, and Allure detail.

  6. What amazing pieces! I don't think I'd ever have the patience to do something that detailed and intricate.
