Toilet Paper Covers - Yes or No?

Just A Cover toilet paper covers. I've never seen decorative toilet paper covers, and kind of chuckled at the idea. I don't know how I feel about them, and I keep wondering if exposed toilet paper is a big deal - does it need to be hidden with a $180 cover? Are we facing a toilet paper faux pas CRISIS!? They could be useful for a commercial setting...what are your thoughts? Toilet paper covers...yes or no?

  1. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. I sorta feel that way about these. I don't know that I want to decorate my toilet paper :)

  2. very interesting idea here. i'd half to say that some of them look pretty darn good, but i wouldn't pay $180 for them. and, if i did decide to get one, it would be for the powder room only. i wouldn't bother in the other bathrooms.

  3. Hmm. I can see how people - not me, but other people - might want this. And $180? Please.

  5. Haha - great comments. I think the price is really killing it for these. Courtney - laughing about your analogy!

  6. I guess I kinda see a use for them, since my kids always splash their bath water and there goes another roll of tissue. But $180 for it? May be $1.80 I would buy one.

  7. hm. if it were multifunctional, ie, had some sort of compartment, had a socket you could plug scented air things in, had a built in night light, and it being made in the USA and supporting a great cause and/or made from 100% sustainable materials, i can see it being sold for 180.

while i think the designs are beautiful, and i can appreciate the intent, i think the price is rather steep. i've had molded prototypes made in the US for much much less.

i'm sorry if i appeared too critical :( i can see myself buying it if it weren't that pricey though.

  8. Hmm. I've never thought about my toilet paper being unsightly, except maybe when it's getting down to the end and you can see the cardboard roll with the last remaining sheets just hanging on there for dear life. It's such a staple I don't really look at it in the bathroom, but I'd definitely be distracted by one of these on the wall. Yes, a nice aesthetic, but I'm with Anna and would only splurge for the buck eighty.

  9. hehe, love the above comments --- i think we agree that it's rather excessive! (as a student who can barely afford toilet paper, it's a bit laughable.) they are quite pretty, though! it would be fun to see them in a hotel or a restaurant.

  11. I think t.p. covers are fine if they're the simple, metal kind that's attached to the t.p. holder...these might be a little bit too much for my taste!

BTW...are those covers made from 3form resin??

  12. A cover for toilet paper? Seriously what will they think of next?

  13. Until I saw the photos, I thought your post was going to be about those crocheted covers for the spare roll on the back of the toilet tank. Those are definitely not $180. Except maybe for "vintage" hot pink ones with Barbie standing in the center in a hot pink crocheted vest, so the roll is like her skirt.

Personally I wrap my spare roll in colored tissue paper. I saw it at a hotel once and thought it was a cute idea. And it was super cheap!

  14. I was thinking about the 3Form resin too - it looks similar doesn't it? Robin - what a clever idea - thanks!

  15. i don't know how i feel about these.. theyre designs are nice, but i'd never use one. and why so $$$?

...they're even making toilet tank decals now.

i guess some people have problems accepting that not everything in the bathroom has to be pretty.

  17. Great idea, and hey, there are toilet paper covers that cost a lot less than $180. How bout under $40.00 ... good ones that AD class to a bathroom.

  18. Toilet paper covers? Why not? Toilet paper is kinda ugly. And it is only left exposed and ugly because people haven't thought much about how ugly it really is. It has been exposed for 70 years and everyone thinks that's how it's supposed to be. I see comments asking, why does a bathroom have to look pretty? For some people, it doesn't, for most, they like everything to look pretty. Why do we put pictures on the bathroom wall? Are they necessary. No, but they look pretty. Why do we place hard covers over a tissue box? Because they look pretty. Why do we buy pretty towels for the towel rack and never use them. Because they look pretty. Why do we put fancy knobs on the cabinet. Because they look pretty ... Why do we have fancy liquid soap dispenser ... etc, etc. But, to some people these thing don't matter.

  19. Do none of you people have a cat (or dog)that loves to destroy the TP we have had to resort to hiding our TP to keep it in one wholesome piece!
