All About Display

I literally let out a "EHH!" when I saw these display ideas on skona hem. I couldn't understand the text, but the images spoke loud and clear. The first image is my favorite. Framing photo negatives - who would have thought? I'm so using that idea! The modernized family tree is also quite lovely.

Do you frame and hang items besides photos and prints - like fabric, postcards, or any other kooky things? How do you creatively display them?

  1. I do that all the time. I have never been one to conform to just hanging pictures. I love mixing it up for variety and it pleases my eyes.

Wonderful pictures. I love them all. The second is my favorite.

  5. Lovely images!
Personally I LOVE framed fabrics, this way the pattern 'comes out' and makes such a beautiful decoration on the wall. I also love to hang all kinds of small cute postcards:)

speaking of negatives, we decorated a small hanging lamp with some old negatives...now it's a chandelier!

  10. Love the third and last picture. The third because I love the way the photos are displayed, I have a couple of those hanging around (though not as stunning as that one) and the last picture just because it's so pleasing to the eye. And framing negatives is definitely something new to try!

  12. Those framed negatives are really striking, and the family tree is a great fresh approach. I haven't been as creative with my framed artwork, but these ideas definitely get me thinking.

  16. I'm in complete agreement. I love the negatives, but the modernized tree would definitely earn some wall space, too!

  20. Now *that* is the color (photos 1 & 3) I wanted my BR walls to turn out. Grrrr. It's so lovely.

And I love that first pic...I need to get more adventurous with my framing arrangements. The mister tends to be less adventurous so I just go with it. I think I need to try and work on that. ;-)

Ill frame just about anything. I think I smell a blog post topic coming on!

  27. These are all fab ideas! Very inspiring! I've seen old negatives used to create wonderful lamp shades. Can't remember who was making them, somebody on Etsy I think. They looked great! I'm currently pulling apart old viewmaster reels (the ones I have doubles of) to use the teeny slide/negs for something. Haven't figured out what I'm going to use them for. Maybe put them in teeny frames! Thanks for sharing this awesome idea!

  28. Loving the first and second ones, great ideas!
And to answer your question, I don't bother to frame everything, but I do hang various things on the wall... pocket watches, old game boards, vintage rulers, old postcards... and my grandfathers old tambourine!

  29. I am like Victoria... various things hanging on the walls... some new paintbrushes in graduated sizes, some wire strainers in graduated sizes, a vintage handbag from paris...

  31. I'd love to frame a lot of different items, but I have to compromise with a husband who is more traditional. To me, nothing is off limits for a frame.

  32. I love that negative idea also......it's a shame they sit around in boxes......

  33. Oh how I long for a subscription (even if I have no idea what it says).

  34. Gorgeous!

The first one is my favorite as well.

  35. Ohh, I like this post! Such cleaver ideas!! I like to mix + match little doodads, postcards, pictures and such. I've completed a few odd, albeit creative, DIY projects around our apartment. :)

  36. i love the new take on the family tree

  37. Love these! Especially the bottom photo. And that blue chair. My cousin is really creative with how she hangs things. I love looking at her apartment when I visit. I am more of a lean-things-against-the-wall decorator.
