Vintage Find: 3-D Decor

I'm excited to present my latest find - several 1960's folding ball paper decorations. I wanted to use these fun and delicate creations in new ways. I hung them against the wall and added other three dimensional wall art like a sea creature pop-up book. Feeling inspired by the colors and ocean theme I added accessories like Fiesta dinnerware, Seagrove pottery, a vintage kettle, and a sequined purse. The purse was a last minute thought, but I love how the sequins elegantly mimic fish scales.

This set-up was a fun way to play with color (especially since I love teal and orange), but it also generated functional home ideas. Think - a wall of colorful pop-up books or 3-D party balls in a kid's room or living room. The pop-up books add interest and shadow effects to the wall, and can be hung similar to a frame or leaned against a shelf. The party balls are simply hung with double stick tape - for permanence try a heavy duty version.

For unique home or store ideas like outside the frame!

  31. Good. Good. Good. Just Good. You know, those puffy paper things were Christmas decorations in our house. I went into bat for them every year. My mother really wanted to get rid of them, but I liked them, even when they were torn and tatty.
