touchy-feely focuses on haptic design in architecture, that is how the built environment can offer bodies more heightened sensory experiences. One of their design projects include
spoon beads, ceramic beads moulded with spoons. Inspired by the use of precious spoons in coffee and tea drinking rituals,
touchy-feely used the negative space of the spoon and inverted it into a positive form.
Even in the photos you can sense the smooth and tactile texture of the final form. I love the concept and overall look - beautiful and meaningful.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend...I'm slowly starting to get out of the blahs...it's this chilly weather!

I vote for spoon bead necklace plus katy elliott's teacup bangle idea. walking tea jewelry. lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of turning a negative space positive... I wonder what else we could transform - the inside of a freshly emptied coffee cup, the curve of a dancer's forearm... although I guess you wouldn't wear those shapes around your neck - making spoon beads extra special :)
