Inspiring Interiors

This glamorous Portland four-square is a great example of balancing lights and darks to create interior elegance and surprise. Designed by Jessica Helgerson, this home was completely remodeled by opening up the space, adding woodwork throughout the house and applying a dark ebony stain on the floors.

Dark walls and stain normally don't attract my colorful and white palette, but this interior just oozes decadence and comfort. I love design that is sophisticated without being too stuffy. This updated home looks perfect for modern living and entertaining.

Maybe we could even have a St. Paddy's Day party here?! Green beer, corned beef and leprechauns...sound good?

  2. This is beautiful. My living room is pretty much the same layout as this house, but looks NOTHING like it...very regal. Its fun to see what it could look like!

  3. It's astonishing. I can't take my eyes off that bauble-y chandelier. Or ... ceiling-adornment, as the case may be.

  5. Wow!

I love that first room. Like you I normally don't like that much dark stain, but it works wonderfully. I love all the dark wood and then the white/neutral walls and furniture.

    When can I move in?

  13. The use of color in these rooms is just stunning. You think it's a muted color palette until you look a little closer, and then bam! The color pops out at you. Love it. Happy St Patty's Day!

  14. Oh dear. That does not look like a green beer house to me. That looks like a "you better be usin a coaster" house. That said, I LOVE this house. That light is fab.

  20. This house is really gorgeous! I love the bubbles chandelier! And I love how they made the glass front cabinets in the kitchen 2-sided and open to the dining room too. That's a really cool and thoughtful touch.
I will say this is definitely very inspiring to me... to go and clean my own house!! These rooms are spotless!! I'd be a little scared to live here with our dogs, I think.
