Diana Mini goes to Chicago
During my short trip to Chicago I brought along my new 35 mm Diana Mini camera. Somehow I took crazy double exposure shots while figuring out the camera's kinks and walking through busy streets. Luckily some of them turned out pretty neat. The last image I initially overlooked as a big mistake, but another glance revealed that the photo embodied my disjoined and hectic feelings during my Chicago trip. I enjoy the excitement of a big city, but at the same time I can feel a little overwhelmed by the noise and chaos. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to experimenting more with the Diana Mini!
Wow! I love them especially the last one.
ReplyDeleteoooOoo! love these! that Diana Mini is quite the looker!
ReplyDeleteoh yes! you have captured that city feeling very well. i like it! i have put a Diana on my birthday list. i used to have a lomo. it's time for some more experimentation i think.
ReplyDeleteThese are very cool. I love my city!
ReplyDeletei've had my eye on little miss diana mini for a few weeks & these photos confirm my want for one. that lucky last shot is amazing!
ReplyDeleteSo cool!
ReplyDeletelooks like you did all the big chicago to-do's! Being from here, I am glad you enjoyed yourself :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I was just in Chicago last weekend - you're right, it's definitely a bit hectic. But I love visiting!
ReplyDeleteHey my friend you were in my neck of the woods! Well sort of I'm an 1.5 hour away, but a quick train ride. I LOVE the photos very fun! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI think they turned out fantastic! I've always wanted to visit Chicago.
ReplyDeleteThese are great! Now I want a Diana.
ReplyDeleteNice photos. Im buying a Diana camera and i was wondering how you get the photos online when the camera is analogue one...`? Im grateful for any help
ReplyDeleteThe city buzz can overwhelm and energise at the sametime!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots.
Oh wow! I am so impressed... love happy accidents too! :) K
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Hey Jeanette - depends on which Diana camera you get. The original Diana camera takes 120 film, which once developed you can scan into your computer. The Diana Mini takes standard 35 mm film, which you can get developed at your local photo place and get your pictures put on a photo CD. Makes it very easy! Most of the time I only get the negatives and photo CD (instead of prints) to save money. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHooray for happy accidents! I love the double exposed pictures – especially the one of the buildings and the sky.
ReplyDeleteLove! I can't wait until I have a new camera to play around with :)
ReplyDeleteoh, man! i recently bought a vintage diana, but have had some sort of hesitation or block using it. now i'm totally tempted to sell it and get a diana mini--it sounds so great to have the option of getting a photo cd for posting images online. jeanette, if you are thinking of a normal diana and don't want to pay for the developing of the prints, just develop the film and scan it so you can see which prints you want developed.
ReplyDeleteso uber-cool. what is that silver dome in the first photo?
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool! Sometimes mistakes make the best pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures!! Chicago is the best....but I am a little bias!
ReplyDeleteOh, the Diana Mini is a dream! I think I covet thy camera. :-) And that last shot if kind of awesome.
ReplyDeleteThey look great!! I am pretty excited about the release of the Mini. I have to just enjoy it from afar for now. Does it stop on the right frame or is it like the normal one where you have to figure it out yourself?
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting! I've been thinking about getting a Diana Mini lately, as i'd rather use the 35 mm film... and it produces such dreamy pics! And the colouring is so good! So when you get your photo CD back... are the files squares? or is it like a regular 4 x 6 but because of the Diana Mini it has the square images on it? I'm so curious how this works once developed... I would really appreciate it if you could let me know! :)
ReplyDeleteIt does take square photos and takes a couple of trys to get the frames right (or you can end up with happy accidents!). When you get the prints developed they come on normal sized rectangle photographs with black around them. I get a photo CD and then crop them in Photoshop so I have a square photo. But, not sure how to get it developed only square? Still something fun to have - good luck!
ReplyDeleteyour photographs are beautiful - very inspiring
ReplyDeleteI've just bought a diana mini and even though not all the shots are perfect I've found the sky always seems to look lovely - just like yours
