Home Sweet Home

While you are digging through the garden or decorating the house this weekend...remember why home is important and what it represents. Not only does a house provide shelter, but home is a feeling of comfort.

The Home Sweet Home series by artist Lisa Dahl brings an interesting perspective to the emotions associated with home. The small works (8"x 7") combine "images of American suburban homes" with "embroidered home-related phrases on domestic materials such as bed sheets and wallpaper. The resulting images are intrinsically sad and fragile on the one hand, but decidedly funny, even quaint, on the other. The miniature scale of the paintings provides an intimate view of homes that have been given great care and attention while simultaneously being put under some sort of duress."

The materials, stitching, and feeling of each piece is wonderful...I am truly in love.

Several of these would be great hung in a grouping together. Your sentiments about what home really is are so true.

I like these - they're like nothing I've seen before. Kind of quirky but timeless as well.
I like seeing something totally new!
