The other day a colorful photograph by Sivan Lewin was featured on Dear Ada. As I explored Lewin's website my heart skipped a beat when I saw the Things Worth Knowing photographic series. OH...MY. Lewin's photographs immediately resonated with me. For the past year I have been dwelling on a art series about the possessions we own and leave behind.
What do they mean? What do they say about the person we are or was?
The fleamarket characteristics of these objects also appeal to me. These are items I have seen countless times among piles of fleamarket treasures. Now I have even more reason to give them a second glance. See more goodness by Sivan Lewin.
Also, I want to thank everyone for their advice and recommendations for the new blog name. I was over-joyed with the responses, and couldn't believe how much you like Please Sir! I feel invigorated to continue on with the Please Sir name. You guys made me fall in love with it all over again. No need to change your links just yet, but I'll keep you updated on any changes. THANKS!!

great link...even better news about please sir...
These photographs are so you! I love the concept, very interesting...Also glad about Please Sir!
I am so glad that you are staying with the original and the one and only Please Sir.
These are a few of my favorite things. I have a small chest with drawers in it, that I keep exactly little cute trinkets that I pick up here and there. I find myself peeking in the drawers from time to time to just be inspired.
I find great pleasure in lovely things like this. Thanks Pleasie.
BTW- you never would have had to worry about being my waitress. I am over the top nice to the servers, because I was one, and I know how I wanted to be treated. I just love to make people laugh and feel at ease. Your a sweetie, I can tell..
Wow--- fantastic series.
And yes, keep 'please, sir!'
Hhmm...that's weird. Are you talking about blog feed?
oh yay! you're keeping your name!
Thanks...I'll check it out!
these are beautiful. i've always loved thimbles, so that one is my favorite. congrats on deciding to keep please sir. i think it's great.
Yay! You like Please Sir! That makes me smile
:-) see?
And, btw, I really love this post. I think there's something in grouping old items that gives them new life. You start to see the original owner's personality, perhaps, when you see a collection. These images really show a respect for the items and the person who owned them, and there's something really touching about that.
These are fabulous images; if only these objects could talk! Thanks for sharing.
I agree, these photographs are SO you :) These ideas remind me of that dear scene in Amelie when she stumbles upon the tin keepsake box of the little boy's. Each little treasure described an aspect of him!
Thanks - what a compliment! Yes - it is like that scene from Amelie - good memory.
GREAT news! I love Please Sir and am hoping it's always on my Google reader.
These shots are fantastic. A little haunting, too. I won't look at these doo-dads at a flea market the same way again.
these are amazing! your blog is beautiFUL, and i totally dig PLEASE SIR.
those are absolutely gorgeous! i especially like the first pictures with the necklace. the colors aren't vivid but still beautiful! thank you so much for sharing! :)
Yea, so glad you are keeping the name I have come to know and love!
I love the picture of the thimbles, makes me ponder back to the days I hung out with my grandmother in her sewing room:)
these pics really resonated with me - gorgeous!
I have to say that this is honestly one of my favorite features of yours. Which is a huge feat considering how much I love your blog and what you post! Which is why I am so happy you are keeping the name....it's an institution (with me anyway).
These photographs are so inspiring!!
And I like Please Sir, too.
:)
I love these pictures. I totally know what you mean about seeing these things at flea markets and giving them a second glance now - that is exactly what I was thinking! Glad to hear you are sticking with Please Sir...I really think it will make an excellent Etsy name!
Love that second photo....reminds me of going to austions with my Mum, will check out the link - just sublime xx
Thanks for the link.
After inheriting quite a bit from relatives who've passed recently, I too have been obsessing over things and what they mean to us. I've had a terrible time trying to decide what to do with certain things that have been "given" to me.
Strange the things we save and the things we don't, lately I've been wondering if it's an entirely conscious decision at all.
