Did you have a good weekend? My weekend was busy and too short. I'm always a little sad coming back to work on Monday, but at least the July 4th weekend is coming up, which means vacation!
Ok, let's get to the good stuff. I purchased this 1893 leaded glass window from a window dealer at last year's Liberty Antique Show. The dealer said it was retrieved from a Chicago urban building before it was demolished for a high-rise. Who could destroy such a beauty?!
I was immediately attracted to the geometric circles, which the dealer said was rare and required great skill to achieve. I also love the color and paired it with a vase of pink flowers and my stack of trusty books (if you haven't noticed, I love decorating with books). I picture this window above a glorious fireplace in future awesome house. My friend suggested putting a mirror behind it, but I'm a bit torn. Thoughts?

right there with ya on a monday. we only have 3.5 days this week! Love the window! It could really go lots of different ways, the mirror would be interesting, but it'd be just as pretty without.
Thanks - I agree, which is why I haven't messed with it. Yay for short weeks!
A mirror will be fine :)
Again, we dont appreciate vintage much here. Don't even have garage sales, anything that is old is well..tossed out most of the times:P
what a GREAT find! love the color.
We had a great piece of stained glass that we took out of our old house. We ended up hanging it in front of another window using light chains and hooks. It looked really interesting and still had the light shining through.
I love it and I actually say no mirror, it's so perfect on its own.
(Couldn't stand my typo.)
What another great find. I am really starting to enjoy these vintage finds of yours.
I say leave it. I have a mirrored window and one that isn't. I enjoy the one that isn't more for its beauty. That one you found is a beauty naturally.
Thanks Pleasie and have a great week of finds.
I love this. Decorating with salvaged finds like this is so different and always has a great story to go with it. The color is perfection!
Personally, I wouldn't put a mirror behind it. I think it would distract from the great shapes.
this is a wonderful window. never seen one like it. i think either way (mirror or not) you have a great piece here.
I agree with no mirror. However, I would hang it in front of a window like pig-town design suggested. My childhood home had several lead glass windows going up a stairway. There were always rainbows on the floor and walls because of it. Which is why I would try for a small room...like maybe a bathroom. I can't tell if this has the bevels to do that, but it is a great find with a great color!
THat is a FANTASTIC find, Diana! I love it! :)
I adore your window! Mirror or no. :) And I've spent a good portion of the morning "catching up" on your blog; you truly are so inspiring. This blog makes me happy!
Very pretty! It looks great any way! ;) Great find!
Thanks so much - great ideas too!
lovely find! you always have such beautiful things & know just how to use them in your home. i love flea markets, but can't always visualize how to make finds look fabulous once i get them home.
oooh, NICE! What about some cool wallpaper behind it?
very lovely. & i agree with everyone who has said no mirrow...
it is too gorgeous as it is!
i really like it as is :)
man, you have the best luck vintage shopping.
beautiful, diana! i think it would look great either way. :)
Wow - I love it!!! Don't ever invite me to your house, because I may try to sneak it out in my purse. :)
I don't think I'd put a mirror in it - I like it the way it is. You could hang it, too. But I like the way you have it displayed with the books and flowers. It's so perfect.
Since it's old, I would just throw it in the trash and get something really nice at, say, the Home Depot or someplace elegant like that. ;)
Well, it would appear that the consensus is no mirror and that's what I was going to say...my 2 cents :)
The color of the frame is SO great!!! Love it! Great, great find :)
ooh, I love the way it looks with the vase of flowers and books. nice touch.
oh! i had one of these guys {not with circles, though. perfection!} with blue and red stained glass.
so gorgeous. and clean. my vote's as is for now. but i can change with the wind!
I agree that weekends are too short! I love this window, its an unusual design
Two enthusiastic thumbs up on this Vintage Find! I love, love, love it! Definitely something I would have scooped up, too. My vote is no mirror. I think it would compete too much with the lovely leaded design. I know others have said it, but it’s such an unusual and striking design.
LOVEEE!!!! And I like it just the way it is. Interesting and original. Gorgeous!
I love this window! The color is just fabulous and the design is uniques. If I had it I would leave it as it is - no mirror.
AH! I love that window...what a great find! My two cents: no mirror.
I saw this this morning and immediately made a mental note to recreate in paper. Thanks for the inspiration.
Lovely piece and lovely flowers.
fantastic find! i like the mirror idea but i think this piece is perfect all on it's own.
My mother hangs vintage windows above her kitchen sink in front of the real (boring) window. That way, sun shines through it and makes it even more beautiful. Just use hooks and chain! You will love it!
Yep, no mirror. I think adding one would give it a little bit of what you can buy in a lot of stores, and take away from its original character. It's really beautiful. Great find!
i love it the way it is. great find!
luv it!
i want it ; )
I like it how it is Diana!! Great find!
That is one fantastic window!
i would leave it as it is! love the blue and the circles pattern. maybe you can put this up on an interior window / opening between two rooms?
How beautiful! I would leave it as is because it allows the geometric shapes to be the center of attention.
I have to agree with the others who said it's perfect and gorgeous just as it is! No mirror necessary. Love the color of the frame, too. -Julia
no mirror please...perfect just as it is. the only improvement I could see would be displaying it in my abode...kidding! I really just love it so much!
I love your grouping of the window, (no mirror) books and flowers... VERY nice!
You find FUN things! I need to go flea shopping!
I agree, no mirror. If you put a mirror behind it then it is as if it never was a window, and you'll never get to tell that great story to guests in your future awesome house.
Personally, I like it just the way you have it. It's gorgeous, and you have fantastic taste!
This piece is so lovely!

The circle design is fantastic.
And I also have the vintage Betty Crocker children's party plan book! My mother used it to plan all of our birthday parties, and I use to refer to it as well when planning my own kids parties!
