Inspiring Interiors

A great mix of interiors by 2Michaels, a New York City based Interior Design firm founded by sisters Jayne and Joan Michaels.

I want to point out the last two photos. Notice the wall art which appears to be ornament-like objects suspended from the ceiling to bottom molding. I wonder what else you could suspend like that? And, is that a BOOKSHELF built into the DOOR?! Are my eyes playing tricks - is it a mirror, a wall decal? If that really is a bookshelf - do the books fall out when you open the door? So many questions, but I still love the idea!

On a side note, you may have been wondering, "Diana, where are your guest posts on M&Co.?" I'm having technical problems logging in and posting on the blog (making sad face). I apologize for the excitement, but I hope to get my blogger brain in typepad mode before Monica comes back from vacation!

Another side note - after watching Top This Party on Lifetime I can officially conclude that overly rich people are I-N-S-A-N-E...like full-blown crazy in the head. I've always had a secret desire to be a party planner, but now I'm a little unsure. If you need a break this weekend check out the episodes online.

this post cracks me up, Diana! I can totally see your personality in this one...from the interiors to the questions of functionality of that bookcase and he Top This Party blurb. Love those interior shots. My house is never that clean.

Ooh...I LOVE the bedroom with the canopy bed!!! I want that! I too thought the door had a picture/poster of books but I'm not sure either...It looks like it could actually indeed be a bookshelf with real books in it. Hmmmn? ;) Cheers!

That bookshelf-in-a-door is pretty cool! I'm curious to know how it "works", too!

One thing I like is how in the second photo, they've taken an element that might not be desireable to everyone (the stone wall) and really made it an amazing aspect of the room. It's a great lesson to keep in mind about working with what you have.

I've never heard of that show but it sounds like a MUST-watch! I wouldn't mind doing event planning but the thought of nightmare clients are one deterrent!

That second to last photo really caught my eye. I love the texture of the wood paneled wall with the ornaments. Gorgeous! You always post the best interiors!

Yep, I'm loving the bedroom with the canopy and the banquette seating under those beautiful windows, as well as the one with the shelves built into the door. It does look real, but you'd definitely be giving up some space if it's a tiny closet. Totally worth it, though!

Thanks for your comments today. You know I'm an admirer of your great eye for all things wonderful so your words mean a lot. ☺

Wow, I love these photos. The lamp in the first one, the stone wall in the second one, the open lines in the third one. Beautiful!

I love the canopy bed. I've always wanted to sleep in an all white bed with whispy white sheers...

Pictures = fab, fab, fab.

Party planner = I've done it. It can be very rewarding And it can nearly kill you. You need to be super organized, have very thick skin, able to think on your feet, and always be two steps ahead of your client (four if they are crazy, six if they are rich and crazy).

I love every one of these! About the bookshelf door - I think I've cracked it. If you look at the very bottom of the door, where the bookshelf 'ends'...it seems as though it's not a bookshelf, but a poster of a bookshelf. It could be molding, but I think it could be a poster. So cool though!
