Uncommon Places

Between 1973 and 1979 Stephen Shore made a series of trips across North America to photograph and explore the changing culture of that time. One of the results, and recent feature on Aperture Foundation, is the book Uncommon Places: The Complete Works. Filled with landmarks, interiors, and portraits this book is sure to delight all your design senses. How about that couch?!

I miss those Drive Ins.. Sad to me.

Love the pictures, and that couch brings back to many scary tv shows.
Like "the birds" my brother forced me to watch.

This is what I want to do. I love these photos.

So will anyone help donate to Help Janelle Across America fund?

Also, I've seen this book at the MoMa, it is amazing, the colors are great, the photos take up the whole page, it was welcomed surprise after being disappointed by another book. It is definitely worth the buy.

Makes you wonder if someone were photographing our homes now, what would we say about them in 30 years? Hmmm.....

oh, i LOVE this book and i love his work in general. i think it's so great when artists/photographers can take something banal and make it meaningful. :)

oh i used to have a couch similar to that (in lime green) which i got from the salvation army after college.

those old architecture photos are awesome. i love those old school buildings. a lot of those old theaters are being restored here, and i'm glad for the because they're beauties.

I know exactly what the Falls would look like on the inside - I can see it in my mind's eye.
