Since I've been slacking on my Vintage Find Sundays, I thought it would be a treat to have a mid-week Vintage Find post. Plus this sweet transistor radio was begging to be photographed with a modern, graphic print. Transistor radios are so neat looking! Atomic Ranch even acknowledged their appeal and here are some beauties they found -
We've come so far with our razor thin ipods, but transistor radios still carry a nostalgic presence you don't get from current electronics. Summer days, cool nights, rocking tunes, and sneaking a beer in the backseat of a Chevy Malibu. I haven't turned on my AM station transistor radio yet. But, I can only hope when I put in that 9 Volt battery an old disc jockey, like Murray the K, will start to play The Beach Boys!

I love the colors of the radio. And that is a great graphic backdrop.
Is this your personal collection? These are great!!
Thanks - I just have one radio to start with!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE your old radio! Just another collection to get hooked on...so great!
Your description got me day dreaming. Sunny days at Jones Beach
and Rockaway Beach with my friends.
we really were so creative back then. everything looked different. now, all the cars and radio devices have the same style. i love this post!! xo
Now that the boyfriend has acquired his vintage rotary phone (which we'd hunted down for at least a year), I'm pretty sure a radio is going to be next. There are so many crap reproductions out there, though so we have to be careful.
I just love this...what a great find!!! Nice photo as well.
oh i love this! your photo of the radio is fantastic. i'm listening to npr on my transistor radio now - for real.
I don't own an iPod {am I the only one?} Nice find! I'm pretty new to your blog so I'll have to go check out your Vintage Find Sundays posts...
Very fun!!! Great photo of the radio!
Oh I love your radio! You take really gorgeous photos.
You just made me want to start a new collection! Oh, oh!
Groovy radios! I should take a photo of one my mom has for you... leather radio... you'd love it!
which one did you buy?! the top one?! i saw some like these being sold for 2 dollars each!!! i should've bought them all!!!
Lovely!
When I was around 3 (that would have been in 1966) my grandfather gave me a little red transistor radio in a red leather case. I thought it was pure magic. I have been thinking much of that little radio lately, (for some reason, or another) and wishing very much I knew what became of it, as I would treasure it even more now.
The first yellow radio is the one I own.
