Ever since we talked about Art in Science my mind has been wandering to thoughts of science combining with art to create dynamic and thought-provoking works. The pieces by Julie Davidow indulge this delight even more.
Davidow says, "I am a frustrated scientist collecting specimens of the organic and inorganic worlds, motivated to create art by an endless curiosity for the natural sciences, the systems that govern its functions, and the relationship of those systems colliding with man's coexistence and interference." Davidow explores these relationships through painting, drawing, and wall installations of biomorphic shapes. I enjoy Davidow's recent paintings, like The New Strain, which introduce more fluorescent colors and reference the built environments that intrude on natural ecosystems.
Tomorrow I'll post a piece I did in the past to build on this topic of science and art. Notice the science working around you today...maybe it will inspire a new thought!

Absolutely delightful. I love his connection between art and science. Did you see "What the Bleep?" where that scientist created water crystals which were "fed" love vs. hate and the differences between them?
I'm not sure how legit a science experiment that is, but is food for thought.
