Bathroom Idea

I got a little tired of the "letter" trend when wooden letters spelling words like hope and wish were popping up everywhere. I apologize in advance if you have these...really I'm not a anti-good-words person! As the letters and words have evolved I've been more open to them...especially when you throw in retro font. One such example is this bathroom featured on Remodelista. Let's push this idea further - what if the letters were mirrored? This would give it a practical use (gatta check yourself out) plus it would be fun and positive - spell out words like bath, pretty, or even dirty!

Mirrored letters seem to be slim in the market, but I did find some here, here and here. If done right I think this would be a great addition to a bathroom. What would you spell?

This is a really fresh spin on the whole wall lettering trend and I really like it. My sensibilities fall align along the same vein as yours, so if I had to put a mirrored word up in my bathroom, I'm thinking it might be "wipe!" (I have a 4 year old.)

Holy smokes! Is that gorgeous or what? That stone sink is absolutely exquisite.

Hmmm...mirrored letters? It's a fantastic thought, though I'm a commitment-phobe and would have a hard time deciding on something...can I just have a scrabble set's worth of letters so I can switch it up on a whim? Or maybe I'll just spell 'fickle' :)

It is definitely fresh that way. Specially when it's not in English somehow. :)
It's basically saying what.. BE. Etre is a lot more interesting than BE I reckon.

Haha those are both great and FUNNY ideas - love the scrabble thought - maybe mirrored magnetic letters on a metal back?!?! THAT would be so neat!

Did someone say Scrabble?! I'm in :)
I think it's a great idea.
Have a wonderful weekend!

How fun. I'd spell "Is there something in my teeth?" It'd take up a whole wall, but be COMPLETELY appropriate to my personality.

I would need a very large wall for "Did you remember to A. put the lid down B. replace the toilet paper if you used it all C. wash?"

I think I'd be tempted to go on a mass redo of public men's restrooms spelling out in large mirrored letters, "YOU KNOW THAT RUNNING YOUR FINGERTIPS UNDER COLD WATER DOESN'T ACTUALLY MAKE THEM CLEAN, RIGHT? USE HOT WATER & THE SOAP!" But that's just my personal soapbox...er, uh, so to speak.

I know the feeling of being overwhelmed with the underwhelming large letter extravagnza! That's not how you spell it, is it? I would probably write out DO IT!

You can let your mind wander :)

Have a great weekend!

i think lettering can be too cheezy as well, unless it's vintage looking...but i do love this idea!

Oh, nice idea, mirrored letters..., I would have to spell out OCEAN..., maybe two or three rows on top of each other!

If you really wanted to mess with people's minds, you could spell out "MIRROR" in mirrored letters, but turn them around...you know, mirror-images? Whoa. Dude. :)

Oh - I love this idea:) I've no letters in my house, but this would be fun. I would spell 'flush' - just in case;) hehe

I would spell out "WASH ME" like you see on dirty cars. Hence looking in the mirror would indicate... :)

Interesting post. As a Feng Shui consultant, I recommend that a mirror but one piece so that it is not cutting your image. Many mistakes people make is hanging a mirror too high or too low so that you're not able to your face from the mid neck up.

I also like to introduce the color green into a bathroom because of the high water element that is represented with the sink, toilet and bathtub/ shower. I also like to sometimes add a plant on the top of a toilet to replace what many have on the toilet already - candles. Seems to bring the bathroom in harmony.

We'd do just one big ol' initial.....M (our last names both start with M!)
That would be pretty cool!

that's a pretty philosophical mirror, there.. i wonder if the designer was intending it to be so?

etre is the french verb for 'to be'.. and you're looking in a mirror. does the fact that you can see your reflection in a mirror mean you exist? does your reflection mirror who you consider yourself to be?

so many questions to ponder whilst washing your hands! :)

I admit that even though I share your views on letters, I love this ETRE set!

How about "who is the fairest of them all?" That might be a bit long but kind cool. I like the looks of these letters in the picture you posted.

the simplicity of that bathroom is attractive.

love love love the mirrored letters.....but i dont think there would be enought room in my kids bathroom to write...."you know that chewing gum does not replace brushing your teeth, don't you?"

I love this idea. And I've seen mirrors with phrases sandblasted onto them that look quite cool.

I'd write: "I'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair" :)
