Picture it - junior summer camp, hanging with your best friends, snickering at the boys and making friendship bracelets. "Oh my gosh Lisa...like your bracelet is so cool...it's like awesome. We are like so best friends f-o-r-e-v-e-r." Ok, maybe you didn't say "like" as much, but you can't help but think of fond memories when you see the Friendship bracelet paint series by Ray Fenwick.
I may still have some of my friendship bracelets saved in a memory box - a case filled with old school notes, dried prom flowers, and puppy love crushes. I'll have to dig into it...how do you preserve your memories?

LOVE this!! I have a treasure chest of old journals/scrapbooks. I must do a post about it. Thanks for the inspiration, Diana!

i love these and wish i had mine - drat!
The art of making friendship bracelets has been lost!! My good friend a few weeks ago gave me one the other day . . . so maybe they're making a come back!
I love them !
The kind of thing I would like to see everyday.
these are great.
i have all of mine saved in a time capsule box at my parent's house ... along with every note that i was ever passed in middle school and high school.
good times.
wow! I really love those. A+++ on the find
Yeah, I have a few from junior high stored in a silver jewelry case SOMEWHERE in my closet :)
oh my gosh, i just found one from back in the days last night.
I've tagged you with a little award. Pls. check out my blog later today for details.
I think I have a well-worn friendship bracelet somewhere (ah, those were the days), in one of my memory boxes. I stick all sorts of things in here I want to keep and remember.
Oh, yes, friendship bracelets. I do think I still have a couple somewhere.
OMG I used to make those by the DOZENS at summer camp; sadly, I did not save any of them. But maybe I will have to pick up some embroidery thread and start a new collection!!

Oh man, I always imagine myself as being cool when I think back on the good old days.... but I was so NOT cool :)
My memories, at the moment sit in a box. Some end up upon the wall or on a shelf. Don't even ask about my photos from before the digital age...filing cabinet box.
good old friendship bracelets! i hope they make a comeback.
i love friendship bracelets! i have mine stored in one of my boxes. now I feel like looking for them.
There are all different types and patterns, plus the threads come in every color of the rainbow - endless combinations of friendship bracelets are obtainable.Use embroidery floss and keep them organized from the start. There are organizers and thread holders that will help you or your teen know what colors you have and keep them from knotting up and being useless.

I must have made a million of those back in the day... I don't think I could possibly remember how now.
So sad.
i love this post! i used to make friendship bracelets with my sister. i wonder if i still have any in my old memory box...?
Pretty much the same way as you, in boxes and such. I have lots of photos too.
I remember how popular those were, and yeah, I did say "like" a lot. It's still hard to break myself of that habit! I also remember people would wear these til they fall off, which they never did, but instead got all funky and dirty, lol.
Ahhh... middle school, lol. That's when we made those. I have some things saved in the cedar chest and others in a plastic tote under the bed. All of my yearbooks, my FFA jacket, my dance uniform, pom poms and so on.
I like totally used like a lot :)
Oh, this takes me back!
OMG...what a flashback. :-) I totally sucked at making these, but I loved receiving them!
oh, such memories!! I used to safety pin them to a pillow to make them. I loved making them! It actually makes me want to get started on some.
Oh, those totally take me back to high school and early college. I used to get in a zen state just knotting away...
I love these...the memories come flooding back....
OMG... I remember those things... I still have ones my hubby and I wore back when we were dating... so gross... we wore them until they rotten off... LOL! MEMORIES!
I remember these too! Don't think I have any left though. We used to thread beads on safety pins too - different colours meant a different thing. My kids haven't started making friendship bracelets yet, but I guess they will be back in again soon :)
Clare
they look very much like Australian Aboriginal art. I really like them.. wear them around my head maybe?
I am really bad about preserving memories. Add onto that a bad memory and that would explain why I had forgotten all about these wonderful bracelets my friends and I used to make too. Thanks for the reminder.
The little captions on those are hilarious!
I want someone to make me a friendship bracelet again! Those were so much fun.
i am now a grown woman, yet i still don't know how to make one!!! i tried making one as a kid but it turned out loopy!
Oh i LOVED making friendship bracelets. Taking one end and saftey-pinning it my my jeans...in order to make something "Oh-so-special!" I wonder if I could remember how we would tie all of the fancy knots! What a fun post....the memories you inspire!!!!
WHOA! Those are amazing!
