The Great Pumpkin & Scale

Pumpkins are so fun...especially the wee-little ones. This year I didn't splurge on a huge pumpkin due to cost and space, but instead went for several small ones placed around the house. They also look great in this over-sized vintage table scale. The scale's light blue color creates a wonderful contrast to the bright orange pumpkins. I love this scale and it's just waiting for a perfect spot in my future awesome house!

When it comes to picking out pumpkins my Mom always says to pick one with a good and strong stem...enjoy the thick and curly accents of your pumpkin...plus it adds a touch of texture.

Great photos and awesome scale! Pumpkins make me so happy!

(Years ago when we lived in the city and had a postage stamp sized yard, a small pumpkin plant began to grow from our compost pile in the back corner. We just let it grow, and before we knew it our whole backyard was a delightful pumpkin patch. Our one daughter was three at the time, and everyday she would go out to sweetly tend to the pumpkins, making special pumpkin food out of mud, and feeding each one!)

I haven't picked up any pumpkins either..., but have an entire room devoted to that cheerful color of bright and warm orange!

I love these pics! And the scale. I took pictures of a couple of antique scales at a yard sale the other week -- they were somewhat "fancy" (as was the yard sale) so I was afraid to ask the price. For fear I'd buy one (both?) and miss my mortgage payment. :-) I have to remember to post the pics, though.

I used to pick the perfectly cute and symmetrical ones, but in my older age I prefer ones that are a bit different and quirky, maybe even with imperfections on them.

I waited too long for pumpkins and so nearly won the bad mother of the year award by coming home without. The children were ecstatic when we found mid-sized (as opposed to the gigantic ones they usually want)at a roadside pumpkin patch.
