Halloween Dress-Up

Kids have it made. If I got to wear cool costumes like this I would freak out...in a good way! The first two are from the talented Grosgrain and the next two are from Oscarine. I think they are intended for dressing up and expanding the imagination, but isn't that what Halloween is all about (besides the candy)?

My favorite Halloween costume was when I was about seven and dressed up as Pippi Longstocking. My Mom and sister helped construct the costume, along with spraying my hair red and using wire to make the pigtails stand up. What I remember most about the costume was not the hair or the stockings...but that it took family effort to make it. Here's to a memorable and safe Halloween this year!

What's your most memorable or favorite Halloween costume?

Pippi Longstocking is awesome! What fun :)
I think my favorite was Mildred Hubble from the Worst Witch!
Happy Halloween...

What a great story about the Pippi costume. I'm sure my kid would love that! (Alas, I'm a buy one at Walmart cuz that's all the time and emotional energy I can invest kind of Halloween mom.) And these kiddie costumes are awesome.

I tried so hard to influence my daughter to be Pippi Longstocking this year! She has to go as a character from an approved book for school. She was Eloise last year and it was perfection. This year she selected Violet Beauregarde (did I spell that right?) I was always a witch or a black cat. I loved the witch costume so much that the hat sat on top of my lamp all year long!

i love those top two photos, but i'm sure your pippi longstocking costume would leave them in the dust. my favorite costume was as little bo peep, which was made from sheets dyed pink. i had a lace petticoat, floral bonnet and a staff, but, no sheep 'cause i lost them ;). happy halloween!

When I was three or four, I went as a vampire - my mother was working as a costumer at the time, so I was totally kitted out - little waistcoat, red velvet cape, with my hair slicked back and a ghastly pale face. I had the best time trick or treating and scaring people until i caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror and freaked out - I had to go home right away and get a bath to make sure it was still me in there : )

Happy Halloween!

These are great!! Honestly I've never liked dressing up that much. My kids do - today I've got a little Superman and a shark...I'm a queen married to a pirate!

great images, i have made my some many a halloween costume, but not quite that detailed. the best one i made him was a mummy, i bought a 2 piece sweat suit, hot glued many strips of ripped up old sheets, so that he could just take the jacket or pants off and each piece looked wrapped in muslin. then hot glued plastic bugs and spiders, some looked like they were creeping out of the pieces of sheet, and add some fake cobwebs, and voila, it was fun. at 15 years old i'm sure he'd have a comment or two if i tried to dress him up again....:) happy halloween!

I loved the Pippi Longstocking books, and I bet your costume was great!
My favorite costume was when I dressed up like a martian. (My mom made me a great costume, which she still has!) She even painted my skin green... with food coloring!

Oh my!! I'm just dying!!

I rocked as Jem the Rocker. I had the most perfect purple wig, a sequined tub top as a skirt, and a purple leotard. Pretty hot for a 5 year old.

i love those photos!! halloween is the best-- i had an art teacher in high school who always had the raddest handmade costumes, and she was the coolest adult-- so you should totally wear fun costumes, even if you're not a kid anymore!! have fun tonight. :)

Love these costumes!
MY most memorable costume was GOLDILOCKS without the 3 bears! My mom would say her most memorable costume of mine was when she dressed me when I was a little girl in HER GoGo Girl outfit... YES, my mom was a GoGo girl dancing for bands!

I was---and still am---obsessed with costumes. One of my faves had to be Marie Antoinette in high school...I sewed an 18th century ballgown with a massive petticoat, wore a tall white wig, and to finish it off drew a thin, drippy line of blood around my neck. Gruesome and glamourous all at the same time! The funniest part was, it wasn't even halloween---it was for a presentation on the French Revolution! Never say I wasn't committed to my education :)

Love this post...kids with creative parents (I assume) have it so great!

My favorite costume was when I went as a chinese takeout box...complete w/ hand drawn pagodas on my white top w/ a wire hanger "handle" above my head. Some people thought I was a TV. Oh well!

Hmmm...I never really had ones that were all that good. I think I was a lumberjack for a junior high dance, and I brought my (then) baby brother's toy chain saw, which was a big hit. I always wanted to be something really cool, cute, or sexy, but have yet to do that. Maybe next year at a Halloween party? It's on a Saturday next year. Yay!

Adorable photos! I've never had a halloween costume. Sadly halloween isn't really celebrated over onthis side of the world. Pity! It looks fun!

I like the grosgrain, I sure do! I would say my favorite costume that I remember (still have the vintage photo) when my mum made me a hand made bunny costume I was carrying eggs in a basket... I loved it.

That is one I fondly remember, after that I remember buying the plastic masks and capes = (
