Trip to Ahhs

The High Point Furniture Market offered stylish furniture, accessories and the exciting “Trip to Ahhs” visual presentation by artist Mike Farrell. Recycled shoes, post-it notes, crayons and even toasted bread slices were used to re-imagine the "Wizard of Oz" on the classic movie’s 70th anniversary. The innovative installation encouraged ideas and inspired retailers to get creative with their store displays. Luckily my co-worker snapped a few photographs, although I apologize for the poor camera phone quality. My favorite is the Seven Wonders of the World on toasted Wonder bread. So clever...I'm still swirling with inspiration!

I love those shoe hangers. But hang on, are they really shoe hangers? It took me a third (or maybe forth look) to realize there were plants coming out of those shoes!
talking about living in style, hey?

Wow! The use of everyday materials to create this magical journey was absolutely brilliant. And to think it was all created by local talent makes the display even more impressive. I can't wait to see what Mike and his team create next market. I will definitely make the trip to Market Square to find out.
