Iceland

It's been a rough week. The rainy, windy and cold weather mirrors the emotions I've been experiencing from missing my mother beyond words, to the uninspiring routine of work and an overall sense of lostness. I don't often discuss my troubled thoughts on Please Sir because this is my sanctuary...my joyful place to escape from dwelling personal matters and be inspired by talented artists and designers. I hope it is for you too, and every once in awhile a work compels you to open your soul. One such work for me is the Iceland photographic series by Bob O'Connor. The worn out, yet colorful slide by the water brings joy to my heart and reminds me to cherish my time and memories. I am also reminded of the vast beauty of our world and man's endless desire to travel and reflect. I know that through this hardship I am lucky to at least have a place to dream and be surrounded by loving, supportive friends. I hope you are also surviving this week and staying warm and safe.

I've been down and out this week, the past few weeks too, and I've thought of you and how it is semi-difficult to stay inspired when things are bleak and in a fog of life. Seriously, next time you are in the area, let's meet up for hot chocolate and flea market trips, sounds renewing.

Sincere thank you to all. It's been hard to write about my current situation...to even find the words. Step by step I try to wrap my head around it and appreciate all your support. I crave a real Icelandic trip one day too!

Oh, Iceland brings joy to my heart as well! I'm sorry to hear you've had a rough week, Diana-- it's freezing cold here, too, and I feel like Spring is going to make everything better when it finally arrives. A big virtual bear hug to you, and I'm dreaming of Iceland right there with you. :)

Having lost a parent, I can feel your sadness, and am so sorry. Mourning is a long and bitter sweet road. Please know that the beauty you find and share here, reminds each of us of the never ending wonder and magic all around, and that helps us all to feel a bit happier and less lonely. Thank you for sharing, and be well on this journey... Spring will come again.

These photographs are excellent. I've always been fascinated with Iceland's landscape ever since I saw the documentary film, "Heima."

Those pictures are amazing. I love the horse standing by itself, freezing but enduring. I'd imagine that's what you are feeling.
Iceland looks to be a beautiful, harsh and lonely place by those pictures.. but definitely intriguing.

This is a tough time of year, I agree. And you are so spot on with "the uninspiring routine of work..." Hope you're feeling better.
