Good Looking Wind Chimes

Wind chimes create a gentle ambiance to an outdoor space, and they are even known to comfort a troubled mind. But, can you remember the last time you saw a good looking wind chime, if ever? Thus began my search for unique and design conscious wind chimes. Here's what I found...

From top to bottom:
1. The Butterfly Mobile by A Silver Garden is lovely and by far my favorite.

2. Whimsical chimes from Windchime.com. They have a ton of wind chimes, but I like these because of the color and modern feel.

3. The Woodstock Hanging Garden Bells are different and look like they would sound wonderful. Another natural, unique look is the Porcelain Cedar Chime from Botanicraft.

4. Why not bring your wind chimes indoors? The luxe Rain Wind Chime Chandelier engages your senses with the use of sound and reflections of light. I could see this hung above a table or in a high ceiling staircase.

In my search I didn't find any worthy D.I.Y. wind chimes, but please comment if you know of any. What's your verdict on wind chimes - are they a garden necessity or a sight for sore eyes?

Good timing! We're focusing on pretty-ing up our backyard and have windchimes on the brain. I'm so picky about them but you've got a great roundup here, especially the butterflies! I do like them, but they've got to be subtle in sound (and, look).

I must be reading your mind! I agree and really like the butterflies - maybe a possible addition to your backyard?

i'm glad i'm not the only that thinks wind chimes are a very touchy accessory. they can be such an eye-sore...but i have seen a few here & there that i wouldn't mind hanging in my yard.
i actually saw a gorgeous hollow wood wind chime just recently. i have no idea where it came from (possibly home made?), but it had the most beautiful, rich sound.
