High Speed

I am flipping out over these amazing high speed photographs by Lee Mawdsley. Each moment is so precise that I keep wondering about the aftermath of chaos. What happens after the paper hits the chair or the tea splashes on the table? How does the soft pillow sound when it hits the floor?

These photos also make me think about the passing of time. Single moments making up a whole lifetime. How amazing to capture these simplistic moments of time...

sorry to post again, but i'm wondering how they got that cup to explode so perfectly?

I love that photo of the pillow suspended in the air. I love the cushiness of it, the off-white on white background, and the anticipation of its bounce when it finally hits the ground!

thinking about the prelude to chaos is interesting too - and that's exactly what's captured in these photos.

these photos are so cool! it's interesting that you'd expect there to be a rough, violent feeling between these objects that are colliding, but the photos still have a kind of soft quality to me. maybe it's the relatively neutral color palette?

I have no idea how they got it to explode in such a perfect manner - maybe there were lots of photos! I agree - the neutral colors seem to bring softness to these photos - great insight!

I spilled a glass of water all over the oriental rug in my living room yesterday, so I can tell you what happens the moment after these photos. Lots of cursing and frantic cleanup. ;)

(These are incredible. The teacup is my favorite.)

so beyond cool. must run to that site...

it's rather paradoxical. the chosen sujects are by no means 'powerful' but how they were shot is incredibly explosive (exploding tea cup included!)

not the imagery but the concept is very very cool indeed.
