Bookbindery

After a brief introduction into bookbinding in college...I would have to say it is a true art. Hinged Strung Stitched is an independent bookbindery that specializes in making custom presentation boxes, portfolios, photo albums, books and slipcases. From the photos the design and quality of each piece looks impeccable. Wouldn't this be a great way to celebrate a special day, item or event?

i LOVE books. i especially love the old school hard bound books that are put together so nicely. i collect rare books as well, and they feel so much more substantial :) it's nice to see folks dedicated to this craft still.

These are all such lovely examples of craftsmanship. I'd be pleased to own any one of them. I love the use of the Japanese papers in the boxes, and the book with translucent paper (maybe rice paper?) with the flowers inside is especially gorgeous.

I rememeber we did this in art class, it was a pain in the rear

Wow! This is all very impressive. I'd love to learn to do this someday. I work at a publishing company, so I know WHY books are bound the way they are (and how they need to be set up). But I've never actually bound a book myself, and certainly not creative and pretty stuff like this.

Lovely...admire those who make them. I took the class too, time consuming and the blisters...
Cheers to binders & book makers!

It absolutely would make a great gift! I have always been captivated by book binding, but know that I don't have the precision or patience it would require. Truly an art form!

How lovely! Have you seen www.blurb.com? You can create your own lovely book art, without needing the expertise of a book binder!
