Asheville & Vintage Finds

Over the weekend I went to Asheville, North Carolina and I already miss it. The weather was gorgeous, the food was amazing and the antiques were downright fun. We were only there for one night, so we tried to fit in as much as possible!

My taste of Asheville included Antique Tobacco Barn, a huge warehouse filled with vintage goodies. Like the table from an old German bar (priced at $300!), a wooden box previously used for storing explosives (my sister bought it to hold firewood), a white medical cabinet (perfection...if only I had $700), vintage stools, a wooden catalog and retro dinnerware. Another spot with foreign goods was Oddfellows Antique Warehouse, which included finds like the cute scale, German tin canisters and old laundry carts (great for a store display).

We also had a yummy lunch at Early Girl Eatery. I love the color on the windows and the clever use of plants. The plants get sun while providing a bit of shade and decoration. And no trip would be complete without a sweet ending like the cupcakes and cookies at The Sisters McMullen Bakery.

Now you can see why I miss it! I hope you had a fantastic weekend too - see any vintage finds?

Unfortunately no...didn't buy anything. I wish! Trying to save money for a nice camera so I can hopefully set up a vintage etsy shop soon.

Wow, I went to Early Girl when I visited Asheville six or seven years ago. I'm so glad it's still there, because my meal was AMAZING.

I also remember Asheville had a great independent bookstore. Did that survive?

oh, that wooden cabinet is to die for... and I looove the vintage mugs.

SUCH super cool finds! i love that wooden catalog. short trips like that make me miss the warmer - that's when i normally get out & about, cause freezing rain isn't the best incentive to leave your house!

That dresser is screaming for an organizing freak owner like me. Me! I'd buy it and then have Barb from Knack to do as she will with it!

I have been dying for a card catalog! I've been thinking about calling all of the local libraries to see if they still have any and if they will give them away or sell them to me.

dear god - i must have the table in the top photo & the cabinet in the 3rd. no debating, it must be mine.

All of those items are so great. I especially like the wooden catalog--that is definitely by favorite item!! I wish I could have it. And the retro dinnerware is really fun... I actually own a single cup like that. However, it would be nice to have the whole dinnerware set! :D
