I adore the lovely products and styling elements created by Studio Violet. Their unique perspective opens the imagination to a fairground filled with circus treats and quirky characters. These pieces would definitely be conversation worthy for your next tea party.
Here's to a chilly (but stay warm and safe under the covers) weekend ahead...

Ruth Cross

Don't you think your boots need a good pair of socks? And your socks need a nice matching scarf? Oh, and your scarf needs a lovely chair to rest? Yes, me too! Discover your woolly needs at Ruth Cross, a design company specializing in hand-crafted knitwear created by British knitters using the finest lambs-wool from Scotland. The snow is coming my way, but at least I can stay warm dreaming of handmade knits and beautiful photographs.

Vintage Boots

Weather forecast for this weekend calls for snow, rain and more snow. I wish for lovely vintage boots from My Favorite Vintage to keep me warm and dry. These unique boots are sure to beat the winter blues without skipping on style. The question now is what to pair them with?

Rewinds

Artist Anne Wilson worked with talented gaffers and glass artists to create amazing, sculptural pieces titled Rewinds. Wilson says, "In watching the movement of the gaffers, I realized the relatedness of textile processes to glass -- glass is flexible and can be fibrous when molten. By translating fiber bobbin winding, or rewinding, into glass we are able to produce and exploit aesthetic analogies between these two modes of production." I'm impressed by the process and infusion of textile and glass production. The texture, the translucent quality and the colors of the resulting works are stunning.
On a more personal note, blog life will be sporadic this week. I just recently moved again...second time in less than a year....ugh! I honestly don't want to see a moving box or truck in a very long time. So this week will be devoted to unpacking and recovering, but I'll still be around and I look forward to catching up!

Redefining Street Art
I don't mind that Aakash Nihalani's fresh take on public art has been blogged about before because I too want to share in the joy. Nihalani uses brightly-colored sticker tape to highlight the “unexpected contours” and “elegant geometry” of New York City. I'm overjoyed by these playful, colorful and engaging works especially since I've taken a recent interest in tape as a medium for art. More on that later, but for now...enjoy more street art and your weekend!

Humunuku

Ok, I must admit it...I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day. I have no patience for long lines at restaurants and overly abundant forms of PDA. There I said it. BUT, before you shoot cupid arrows at me I've come to re-imagine the holiday with these lovely gift bags, tags and cards by Humunuku. I would much rather give/get one of these beautiful cards along with a small box of candy over any dining wait list. The vintage inspired motifs are adorable and timeless. What are your thoughts/ideas for Valentine's Day?

French 50's 60's

Galerie Sommerlath specializes in the art of French antiques and collectibles including 19th-Century, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern periods. Galerie Sommerlath, French 50's 60's and "Le Depot" work together to provide a range of industrial, functional and well designed French pieces. These are not your typical yard sale finds, so expect high prices. The price you pay is more like an investment in the designer, history and quality of each piece. Their websites are still fun to browse for inspiration and future awesome house buys. I think the French rolling cart is calling my future wallet!

A Single Man

Normally I'm not up on the latest films, but I can't wait to see Tom Ford's movie A Single Man starring Colin Firth (swoon) and Julianne Moore. The dramatic storyline and mid-century styling have me sitting on the edge of my seat desperately wanting more. Omaha World Herald provided a great review online and said the movie, "is a fashion show, an interior design show, a re-created slice of the way we were. This carefully filmed movie visually reads like a moving work of art, and the soundtrack also is outstanding."
Sounds amazing - have you seen it yet?! Happy weekend and movie watching!

Porcelain Chain

Check out the lovely porcelain chains made by the talented Megan Bogonovich and available for purchase on Me.la.bo. The white, textural chains would create an interesting art display when grouped on the wall, in a clear bowl or casually placed on an end table. The possibilities seem endless...

Inspiring Interiors: M. Design
Are you ready for interior inspiration overload?! I've been delving into M. Design Interiors and I'm fascinated by their creative ideas and use of space. Since I like many of their interior concepts, the organizer in me divided them up into three trendy categories. First up, the Glamour Girl look complete with glossy surfaces, Lucite furniture and a perfect touch of pink.

If you prefer a quiet and calm space then look into a New Natural approach with lofty textiles, neutral colors and a little rustic, world charm. Notice the small detail of pink on the cabinets? Genius way to add an interesting accent color without overwhelming the space.

Now that you had a moment to digest all these inspiring interiors...what do you think? Are you the glamorous type? Maybe a risk taker with color or like to keep it simple and natural? With so much inspiration out there I think I'm a little bit of all of the above!Labels: interiors
