Vintage Gift

Most people dream of a new coat or the latest electronic under their tree on Christmas morning. Me? I dream of vintage! One of my amazing Christmas gifts was a vintage, metal hanging scale! My parents know me too well. I've been eyeing hanging scales ever since I saw this one on a house tour and this one at an antique show. I may be a little biased, but I think the one my parents found is the best. It's in excellent condition and will look great by a kitchen window in future awesome house. Isn't it fun to buy and receive gifts for an imaginary future house? One day...

How was your holiday? Get some goodies? Enjoy time with the family?

My posts might be sporadic this week. I'm still pretending to be on vacation (even as I sit in my gray cubicle). Plus, I'm getting ready for the new year, which hopefully means new things for Please Sir too!

Thanks again to all the participants in the Holiday Post!

I am a scales girl too. I have 2 of them, and love them both. So glad you have parents that get you.

Have fun with the getting ready for the new year. It should be a great one.

amazing! i have vintage envy! i love it. i didn't receive much vintage, but i did get a $40 gift certificate to the thrift store in town. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! $40 in a thrift store is like $200 in a regular store. even more on half price days!

i love your scale. love it.

How fun! Will you weigh stuff for really, or is it just decorative?

you have cool parents!

thanks for putting on the fun old photo submissions. I was off the internet during family visiting, so it was amusing to come home all exhausted and get to check all the great entries!

Yay!! You have "weigh" cool parents. (Sorry...holiday has me a bit punchy. ;-)

We all shopped local and from etsy and other crafty fairs/web sites this year, so we enjoyed our gifts and knowing that we supported the "little guys" (and gals).

I'm always looking for a new angle for my site.

My favorite gifts were blingy rings from hubby and boys! FUN to wear while blogging and painting!

How fantastic. My grandparents always had a yellow scale similar to your new beauty that hung in their garage. I loved it and dream about having one myself.

What an exquisite gift.... your parents know you well! My dear Mum made me the most exquisite tea-time tablecloth and spent the last year embroidering it. My little darlings got what they asked for from Santa... their first ever computer game console (I think I did pretty well depriving them for almost 11 years of their lives!.... good/bad mother?)... Santa brought me a Wii fit to make the most of the electronic era we have entered into.... I am addicted... to Wii yoga and after 4 days... I can't move! My blogging time will have to move to 6am as I am now yoga-ing at 5am! A-M xx

Lovely! I didn't realize how much I missed those old time scales until I saw these photos. It is not nearly as satisfying to weigh your vegetables on one of the digital versions...

it is so cool - i think you could hang it up in your place now and put some neat stuff into it! happy new year!

oh i like that scale!!! if i owned one, i'd be obsessively putting stuff on it to see how much they weigh.

holiday was (is) excellent!

Totally awesome present... Can I come over and weigh some fruit some time?

suzanne cabrera said...

Whoops...that last comment was mine. For some reason the phrase "can I come over and weigh some fruit some time?" coming out of Edgar's mouth sounds a little too provocative :)

Ha. Here's to a great 2000

uh...3rd comment...2009, not 2000....we've been there already

ah nice. I hope you had a lovely break over the holiday.

This vintage scale rocks! It would look smashing in a kitchen with fresh fruit in it!
