Liberty Finds

Horses were a trend at this year's Liberty Antique Festival.

Neat yellow cart, vintage cake holders and a collection of car emblems.

Original, old school clocks. I bought two!

Original 1940's shopping cart. It was a great price...I got it...what was I thinking?!?!

Rain and mud didn't stop this year's Liberty Antique Festival. I managed to snap a few photos of items I purchased including two old school clocks and a vintage shopping cart. I was hesitant to buy the small shopping cart because well...it's a shopping cart! Plus, I don't have the space for it...no clue what I'm going to do with it...but the price on this unique piece was too good to pass up. My brain racked with obsession and my gut said GET IT. So, I did. It's in the basement waiting to debut in an awesome shop somewhere. Hello Anthropologie...don't you need a vintage shopping cart for display? It's a stretch, but hopefully I haven't become a crazy, vintage bag-lady for buying an old (but cool) shopping cart!

Vintage Fall Fashions

The air is crisp, the leaves are changing and it's time to get out your tights and fabulous boots! Dear Golden has an array of vintage clothing and accessories to perk up your early Fall wardrobe. Their stylish selection of items could easily be paired with existing modern clothing pieces. Ahh...Fall...bring on the hot apple cider because I'm ready for you now.

Cinematic

America's Next Top Model is one of my guilty pleasures and luckily it led me to discover photographer Baldomero Fernandez. His sexy and mysterious photographs leave you with plot, drama and a desire for more. They even give off the impression that you are viewing stills from a movie. I'm also quite fond of his Cubano project filled with color and emotion. Enjoy...

Love by Geneine Honey

I adore these brooch sets and necklaces from Love by Geneine Honey. The bright colors and creative silhouettes make Monday seem a little more happy. The Ferris wheel necklace looks particularly fun to wear!

On a side note, even though it rained the Liberty Antique Festival was wonderful and I purchased some great finds. I can't wait to share photographs with you...hope to have them up tomorrow so stay tuned!

Liberty Favorites

It's that time of year again...the Liberty Antiques Festival is in town and I can't wait to hunt for vintage finds! Above are some of my favorite finds from past Liberty Antique shows. Hopefully there will be lots of vendors this year and the rain will stay away. I'll be sure to report back with goodies and trends. Happy treasure hunting and have a wonderful weekend!

Villa G

Ultra modern interior on Please Sir? Yep, every once in awhile I fall for a modern space like this Norwegian property called Villa G by architect Todd Saunders. The unique house has modern qualities like an open floor plan, hidden closets and a floating staircase. But, they don't compare to the perks built for kids like a playground on the first floor complete with indoor roller skating and a climbing wall (are those hearts?!). If you're also an easily amused big kid...then I'll see you on the first floor and don't forget your skates!

Wonderful

Lately I've been on a little Marilyn Monroe kick and I love this photograph from Architectural Digest showcasing her retro interior style. AD mentions that Marilyn Monroe "occupied a series of residences, owned no jewelry and counted books, records and a picture of legendary actress Eleonora Duse among her most cherished possessions." Even after famous movie roles "she still kept a modest, one-room apartment at the Beverly Carlton Hotel in Beverly Hills" and was quoted as saying “I’m not interested in money, I just want to be wonderful.”

Pause

Aren't these photographs beautiful? Actually...they are PAINTINGS! Wow right? Don't worry...when I found out I also had a jaw dropping, head spinning moment.

The realistic paintings by the talented Alyssa Monks are absolutely incredible. Talk about perfection...every detail is impeccable and every color is perfectly blended. I am amazed and inspired by her artistic abilities. Monks does a wonderful job of portraying the human relationship and interaction to water. When I look at these paintings I can feel that silent moment in the shower or a dive into a cool body of water. Continue to stare and check out more fascinating works here.

Alma Larroca

Color, pattern and retro pieces make up the wonderful graphics and assemblages by Alma Larroca. I love the shapes and objects that come together to create each unique work. Don't you feel the need to collage now?

Tidbits

I have a confession...I'm slightly obsessed with my Diana Mini camera. But, you probably already knew that. I had unused film after the beach trip, so I filled it with a heart shaped leaf, feet photos of co-workers, hay collectors and a great double exposure photo of the beach and a local farm. The last image was unintentional, yet it's one of my favorites. The overlapping water to grass makes it feel like you are in two beautiful places at once.

Hopefully you enjoy the Diana Mini photos because there are more beach photos coming soon! I promise to mix in interiors and artists along the way. Here's to a happy week ahead...

Small Joys

The clothesline installation by Slinkachu is a perfect little piece of joy. The Grottaglie, Italy based project is one of the biggest pieces he has ever done. Check out more of his tiny works to compare. Slinkachu's work may be small, but it packs a big dose of wonderment and happiness. Here's to a great Friday filled with many small victories.

Polaroids & Thoughts

Diane Vasil Photography

The lovely polaroids by Diane Vasil are truly inspiring. They are captivating and beautifully portrayed on her website. I feel the desire to start my own photo journal and fill it with photo goodness.

Speaking of journals I purchased the Keel's Simple Diary and love it! Today's thought provoking question is - If there were no tomorrow, you would end up being a/an (insert answer). I put a traveling foodie and artist because I would love to travel, eat great food, take lots of amazing photographs and create inspiring art. Ahh...sounds incredible to me. What would you be?

Fashion Overload

Barbara Tfank Spring 2010

Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear shows are in full swing and already I'm feeling a fashion overload (in a good way of course). Among my favorites are designers Chris Benz and Barbara Tfank. Both collections are fresh, fun and combine clever pairings of colors, textures and patterns. Plus, Barbara Tfank's dresses pull at my vintage loving heart. Check out more collections and shows at Style.com. Any designers sparking your interest?
